Welcome to Sunflowers for Seniors!

Every sunflower brings a bit of joy to everyone who sees it.” – Emily Foster

The Challenge:

In 2023, 49,000 people died by suicide according to the CDC.

That equals one death every 11 minutes.

People ages 85 and older had the highest rates of suicide in '23, followed by those between ages 75-84.

This is our beloved grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, friends, and former school teachers among others.

Loneliness due to isolation is one of the factors impacting our seniors that can lead to suicide.

Sunflowers for Seniors is working hard to change that!

Your support enables us to:

  • Grow sunflowers for visits with homebound seniors
  • Provide packets for you to grow sunflowers to share with your local seniors
  • Purchase additional greenhouses to expand our current reach
  • Provide support to establish local chapters nationwide

Spreading love one sunflower at a time in memory of Melanie Markman!
